Senior Database Administrator
thePlatform, a subsidiary of Comcast, is hiring a Senior Database Administrator for our Network Operations team.

Our Network Operations team uses the latest technologies to support our high-availability, high-traffic Internet applications with greater than 99.9% uptime. Our applications power high-profile destinations for customers such as CNBC, Microsoft, Comcast, Verizon, and many others who demand strict uptime and security standards.

Responsibilities
- Provide design, tuning, maintenance and support of database systems for highly available, high-traffic Internet applications.
- Create and maintain the disaster recovery plan.
- Assist the development team with application schema design.
- Work with the network/security team to ensure database architecture adheres to security standards and audits.
- Respond quickly to emergency situations whenever they arise.
- Help ensure that customer SLAs are met at all times.
- Communicate regularly with development and support teams regarding database status and changes.
- Mentor network operations and development teams in database technologies and trends.
- Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and features sets along with the development team.
- Develop database technology standards and associated documentation.
Requirements
- At least five years experience as a senior database administrator for high availability Internet sites.
- SQL Server 2005 experience.
- MySQL experience.
- Replication experience.
- Multiple database vendor/platform support experience preferred.
- Development experience preferred.
- Database clustering experience a plus.
- Oracle experience a plus.
- SAN experience a plus.
