PBS grows younger audience with online video portal

For a long time, PBS has had great success pulling in older audiences, providing sophisticated content for more substantive TV viewing.

But the organization still must attract younger adult viewers and solidify their loyalty to secure ongoing support. This year they’ve had great success in expanding their younger audience through their online video portal that thePlatform helped launch. At the NewTeeVee Live conference last week, PBS Interactive SVP Jason Seiken reported that 48% of the site’s visitors are under 35, and visitors average 26 minutes on a stream. In addition, the numbers of video views are growing 80% every month.

thePlatform’s system helps PBS share and deliver content on a large scale, offer greater programming variety, and expand the audience for both local and national PBS sites. Check out our PBS Case Study, where you’ll learn about thePlatform’s solutions for PBS’ content ingest, publishing workflow, national and member station players, licensing, and underwriting.
