PDK 3.7 Now Supports MP3 Format, Shuffled Release Lists, and SOLR Mode
The newest release of the Player Development Kit (PDK) offers some exciting new features that give customers support for MP3 files, tools for displaying content dynamically, and the ability to use an indexing service to drive the category list.
- MP3 Support. You can now play MP3 audio back through a standard PDK player; no additional player plug-ins or downloads required. We support both on-demand podcasts as well as live streams that use the SHOUTcast server. You can also set a background image to show in the player while the audio is playing.
- Shuffled Release Lists. The PDK now supports a new FlashVar on release lists that will effectively “shuffle” the contents of the list. With this feature, every time a user goes to a particular page of releases, that user will see the same list of release items displayed in a different order.
- SOLR mode. You can now connect category lists to a third-party index service such as SOLR. To use this feature, turn off the connection between the category list and the release model and enable a third-party service to drive the model. We have added a FlashVar to trigger this mode.
